A Pupusa is a thick, hand-made corn biscuit-like flat bread that is stuffed with one or more of the following: cheese, fried pork meat ground to a paste consistency, refried beans, or cheese con loroco (loroco is a vine flower bud from Central America). There is also the pupusa revuelta which is made of mixed ingredients, such as cheese, beans, and pork. Pupusas are traditionally served with curtido, a pickled cabbage relish similar to sauerkraut that comes in mild and spicy varieties and tomato sauce. One of the traditions of eating pupusas, you don't need utensils, eat them with your bare hands, they taste better!
